Field Trips for the Special Needs Student

Field trips for the special education student take a lot of planning, but are a fun experience. There are many options available, yet certain considerations must be examined first, such as, expense, hours, accommodations, and accessibility.
Some fun ideas are:
1. Museum: Museums offer families an inexpensive outing that allow kids the opportunity to explore and learn.
2. Zoo: Students can study animals and use gross motor skills and social skills.
3. Bowling: Bowling is a great outing to learn to take turns, tie shoes, and learn math skills.
4. Grocery Store: Students learn to make a grocery list, budget, buy items, and learn money skills.
5. Orchard/Farm: Students pick their own fruit and vegetables and learn about agriculture and nature.
